Stainless Steel 309/309S is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy developed for elevated temperature applications. Grade 309 offers high oxidation resistance up to 1100°C (2010°F), while 309S, its low-carbon variant, is better suited for welded structures to prevent carbide precipitation. Both grades provide excellent strength, creep resistance, and corrosion performance in sulfur-rich and oxidizing environments. We supply buttweld pipe fittings (elbows, tees, reducers), flanges (WNRF, SORF, Blind, Lap Joint), forged fittings (socket weld/threaded, Class 3000–9000), and olets (Weldolet, Threadolet, Sockolet) in schedule SCH 10 to XXS and pressure classes 150 to 2500.
309/309S stainless steel is extensively used in industries where thermal performance is critical, including furnace components, heat exchangers, boiler baffles, kiln linings, petrochemical heaters, incinerators, and refinery processing equipment. Its resistance to scaling, heat fatigue, and intergranular corrosion makes it ideal for continuous and cyclic heating environments. These alloys are also suitable for marine atmospheres, chemical plants, and pulp & paper facilities, especially where welding is required with sustained temperature exposure.
